About
Tom Butler Owner & Principal Consultant
Tom Butler has over 15 years experience in graphic arts and the print industry.
His early experience was in digital pre-press, where he specialized in output from Windows computers at a time when pre-press shops were heavily Mac-based.
In the late 1990's, Tom was hired as employee #2 by a 'garage' start-up company in Silicon Valley, California. Through a merger, that start-up became Collabria, Inc., an internet-based application service provider for print suppliers and their enterprise customers. As the company's original graphics specialist, Tom went on to manage a department of graphics professionals as the company grew to over 100 employees.
Three years later dot-com companies were struggling, and after the dust had settled, the intellectual properties of Collabria were purchased by San Diego area-based Printable Technologies. Tom was hired by Printable along with a handful of other key ex-Collabrians to help re-vamp Printable's existing offerings. He packed up his Silicon Valley home and re-located to the San Diego area to join the Printable team. There, Tom brought the processes and procedures that he had developed and implemented at Collabria, and went on to become a key employee and contributor to Printable's success as a Software as a Service (SaaS) provider.
After having spent 10 years working for print-related start-ups, Tom sought to expand into new areas. He went to work for a direct marketing company, and later Electronics for Imaging, before founding Invaric Consulting in 2009.
